The ranch became a mecca for latter-day hipsters and tripsters of all ages primarily through advertising in the back pages of Dead tour fanzines such as Relix and Dupree's Diamond News. The word in the parking lot was, "you gotta check out the Arrowhead." On any given morning, Kenny (or Michele) could be found taking turns feeding breakfast to 20 horses, 40 guests, assorted friends, locals, staff and, of course, each other. Their tireless efforts, and a dedicated staff of very cool people, made the place an extremely easy hang. In two short years the ranch became the high point for artists on the road as far ranging as The Band, Billy Preston, Richie Havens, Ziggy Marley, Lenny Kravitz, Phish, Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors, The Radiators, Hot Tuna, The New Riders Of the Purple Sage, The Aquarium Rescue Unit, Solar Circus, Widespread Panic, The Hour and countless other national and international acts. Culminating during the summer of 1991, rock-empressario Bill Graham, financed a series of outdoor concerts still revered by music fans old and young throughout the United States. Regrettably, that summer also spelled the swan song for the Arrowhead, when Bill's helicopter crashed in October of that same year, resulting in his tragic and untimely death, and the dissolution of the relationship between the Arrowhead Ranch and BGP. Finally, after much struggling to keep the dream float, Kenny & Michele along with the rest of the Arrowhead family, bid fare-thee-well to their beloved ranch in the fall of 1992. What remains is just wonderful memories. We hope you will share yours with us.
